1985 Fleer - Sticker

Anyone other than me remember these stickers? This one is from 1985 but I think Fleer did them all the way up through 1992 before they stopped. I always considered them a bonus and preferred them to Topps' gum. At least you might get your team's logo. After you had one for your set you could paste them wherever you felt like it.

The back of this sticker is a form for entering a sweepstakes. The drawing started on February 28, 1985 and ended on July 30 of the same year. All one had to do to enter was send in your name and address and tell why you thought that Fleer cards were the best. A handy check-off form was provided listing four reasons. The reasons were: "Outstanding action shots," "New multiple image photos," "New color coded borders," and "Stars kids want most." They didn't even list the reason I always thought was Fleer's strong point: numbering the teams together as opposed to randomly. That system really helped us team collectors.

You should check out The Fleer sticker Project. Jon has forgotten more about Fleer stickers than we'll ever know. It's a great read and worth a daily visit.

BTW...welcome to the blogging scene. I saw your site mentioned at Topps Traders. You've already been bookmarked and I'll be checking back on a regular basis.

Guess it would be helpful if I left a link.

Thanks for the visit, comments, and link. I had no idea that I had been mentioned at Topps Traders. I have checked out the Fleer Sticker Project in the past and it is quite good. I really need to add more links. I will probably add your site if that is ok. I like the team collector sites.

A link would be great. I have already added you to my blogroll and will add you to my site links when I next do an update. TwinsCards isn't just a blog. Although we have a blog, it is part Twins history, stats with cards and collectibles (all Twins related) thrown in. The main part of the site is the over 1100 Twins sets (9000 cards) we have cataloged, the 3400 photos and postcards and 18,000 autographs of former, present and future Twins. Tons of other goodies there too...and nothing for sale...purely for the collector and fan. Keep it up, looking forward to more posts.

Fleer was an awesome company when I was growing up because of their numbering system. The only time I had to figure out which cards to add to my White Sox collection were the multi-team cards towards the end of the set.

BTW, great site! I've added your site to my links.
